Sulabha Kore, a multifaceted personality with a zeal for a concentrated life. She happens to be an official in a nationalized bank, a born poet, an author, a translator, educationist, an occassional dramatist, an editor, column writer, journalist, film co-producer and above all a feminist with a tender heart. As an homemaker, she is a very able and successful single parent for her family of two daughters, sister and sister’s family.
Hailing from an humble family background, which was struggling in a picturesque, hilly terrain of central Konkan, her dallying in Marathi poetry started at a very tender age of fourteen. Along with her college education she managed to support her family residing in a single room shanty of a suburban town of Mumbai.
By sheer will power to come out of financial crisis, Sulabha, struggled to earn and learn simultaneously, letting her productive mind overflow through series of heart touching poems. After bagging substantial plethora of academic credentials like BA, MA, Bhasha Ratna, (topped with PhD in her late forties) she attained a deserving post in Union Bank Of India and now as an Assistant General Manager (Official Language) and as an Editor of its Corporate Magazine and Literary Magazine. Luckily, her bread winning job happened to be her hobby, ie. languages.
She is in field of Language for last three decades. Her extracurricular life is equally impressive.
Her academics and creative writing life is very active. She has been an assistant editor for a biographical celebrity Marathi magazine ‘Sahitya Jagar’ for last twenty five years. She was also in the editorial team of ‘MarathiMaya.Com’ and ‘Deepshikha’ a mouthpiece for blind women. She is on Editorial Board of IBA Journal, a monthly prestigious magazine of Indian Banks Association. She has authored eleven books which include both Marathi and Hindi versions. These publications are by noted institutions like Sahitya Academy of Indian Literature and other prestigious Publishing Houses.
More than a dozen literary creations of celebrity writers are translated by her along with eight major daily newspapers carrying her columns.
In the field of art, Dr. Sulabha has been active in a kaleidoscopic way. She has covered media Radio, T.V., annual literary gatherings, stage shows, and even a stint as an executive co-producer for an art film which went a long way to achieve an award for a best international film in an International film festival.
Dr. Sulabha Kore has traveled extensively throughout our country on her official and literary missions. Her foreign tours have also provided her new subjects for writings. Her rising career graph has been promptly appreciated and was always has been a deserving one. In the span of twenty years, from 1996 to 2016, she has been a recipient of ten awards conferred on her by prestigious organizations, at local, state and national levels.
Her participation in discussions, speeches, and interviews were telecasted, broadcasted and also were live on many occasions on various platforms, specially on educational topics. Her keen interest in women empowerment gave her a name in feminist circles. With a collection of prose writings through newspaper columns in the pipeline, she is still going full steam, fulfilling her duties of a home maker.
In short, Dr.Sulabha Kore could be described as ‘An iron lady, with a creative yet feathery pen of a sensitive poet at her hand, shining on the horizon of modern yet, very much Indian feminism in our country.’
